1sts get great victory over Jefke to get to the next round of the Cup Sticky

May
05

Firsts put in a very good performance against a strong Jefke team. Started on the back foot then dominated from 15 in until 3 before ht when we conceded on the break. We continued to dominate & equalised on the stroke of ht through Sigve after 3 one touch passes. We then scored straight after ht after another lovely one touch move, Sylvain played in Mike on the edge, he turned his man brilliantly & finished really well. We then were reduced to 10 after a scuffle & Mike received a straight red. We were still on top & a break away down the left with more nice passing, Nair rounded the keeper & rolled it to Sigve, 3-1. Ten to go & we gave away a soft penalty, 3-2. We defended very well but Darragh still had to produce one fantastic full length save from a close range header. We stopped them creating anything clear cut & ran down the clock well. Sylvain deserved Motm, it's like he plays in slippers sometimes. Huge win, we need to finish it off now.

Our other Cup team lost out going down by 3-2 to Entente RACB.

FC Irlande Ladies edged out of a tight Brabant Cup Final Sticky

May
01

The biggest game for any FC Irlande team in our history disappointingly ended in defeat as the Ladies were beaten 2-1 by Rapide Wezemaal in the Brabant Cup Final. Game was played in the Stade Machtens in Molenbeek ,a ground of 12,000 capacity and many FC Irlande club members and their families came out to cheer them on,

After a difficult first 10 minutes the Ladies got into their stride and began to dominate the game. Isa opened the scoring when she chased down a bad clearance and shot home. Things could have been even better when Aurelie hit a great shot from distance which crashed off the bar. At half time it was 1-0 and the feeling was that we were worth the lead and could go on to win the game. In the 2nd half the opposition began strongly and we knew it wasn't going to be easy. Unfortunately about 15 minutes into the half an error presented them with an equaliser to make it 1-1. We were struggling to match the 1st half performance and were being pushed back . They then scored their second when their fast centre forward sprinted on to a ball and outstripped our defence to make it 2-1 . We tried to get back in the game but the final pass just wasn't there. Just before the end we looked as if we could have equalised but it didn't quite come off. Final score 1-2.

Although we lost today the team showed great character to keep going until the final whistle. They have had a fantastic season and been a great credit to FC Irlande.

Well done Ladies

1 win and 1 loss in the 2 cup games (28/4/2918) Sticky

Apr
28

FCI 2 won 4-0 against Cobra Team . Game played on our home training pitch in Auderghem and it was a comfortable win. We took the lead in the 1st half when Sean finished off a nice move to put us 1 up. We were on top and could have increased our lead when we were awarded a penalty but it was missed and the game was 1-0 to us at the break. 2nd half we drove home our superiority with further goals from Julen,Nair and Vince to secure the victory.

FCI1 lost 1 0 against J.A.F.T. at Nossegem. In the 1st half both teams didn't concede any chances. In the 2nd half we dominated them creating several chances to get a goal but it was not meant to be. Instead JAFT got a penalty. Antonio was not able to save it . Frustrating result  but good performance overall. MOTM Dastan & Ale
