2nds on top at Christmas .Weekend Summary (17/12/2016) Sticky

Dec
17

Firsts drew 3-3. Ross x 2 & a Michael Hermans overhead kick. Needed a last minute captains equaliser in a game we should have won.

2nds 3-0, og, Hans Lauwers & Micheál O Caoimh with a free kick. Top of the league.

3rds lost 1 0 . Tough game evenly matched but they squeezed one in midway through the 2nd half. Couldn't convert any of the chances.

4ths stood up and brought the 3 points home 4 - 1 for the boys in green. Costi,Manu (back from London for the weekend) with 2 goals and Thomas were the scorers.

Vets1 unlucky to lose 1-2. Oliver Smith with the goal. We were 1-0 up too.

Vets 2 played top of the league Watermael and had many chances in the 1st half but couldn't take any and they scored with a header just before the break to make it 1 0 at half time. In the 2nd half we managed to equalise through Damo and it was game on as we had other chances to score but they profited from some weak defending to score 2 more and ran out 3 1 winners.

1sts and 2nds win again to keep the fans happy (10/12/2016) Sticky

Dec

A great atmosphere at Fortress Nossegem on a wintry afternoon as our top teams prepared to do battle . Great to see many players from our Ladies teams came out to cheer the men on.

1sts as usual started strongly and had numerous chances in the 1st half to take the lead but each time it was a case of an unlucky miss . Mika and Ross had the best chances but we were playing well and were confident that the goals would come. 2nd half we pushed forward but were always wary of a quick counter attack which could be oiur undoing. The winning goal when it did come was worth the wait. Vincent, who hadn't scored this season. smashed a tremendous shot into the net from about 20 metres after about 15-20 minutes to put us 1 0 up. The rest of the half we continued to dominate giving LTC few chances and when the whistle blew there was loud applause from the spectators in the stands.

MOM  Rich for a very impressive performance at the heart of the defence.

2nds were next up and after a bit of a delay while we waited for the referee the game started and we began our usual pressing game. Opposition were good though and we needed to be in top form to compete. This we did in style and the goals rained in in the 1st half with Nick , Rado and Alex on the scoresheet to put us 3 0 up at half time. We continued to play well in the 2nd half although the opposition were still battling away . Despite creating numerous chances we couldn't add to our 1st half tally and they managed to score about 10 minutes from the end with a lovely curled finish. Final score 3 1 which keeps us on top of the table one point ahead of New Inn in what is increasingly looking like a 2 horse race for the promotion spot. Great to see Captain Sparksy come on as a sub after a long injury layoff and he was close to getting a goal.

3rds lost 3-2. Good comeback from 3-0 down in the second half but nothing was working well for us, many chances went begging, one of those days. A lot of spirit shown in the end but too little too late unfortunately. First goal  another free kick from Stefan and second long shot by Ionut that the keeper fumbled into the net.

4ths played 2-2 against the 2nd of the league. After a free-kick finished by a bullet of a header, we went down 0-1. Shortly after we came back after a great run from Costi. 1-1.  Rémi scored (or forced the defender to concede an own goal) a few min later after a nice move down the left side. Unfortunately they equalised early in the 2d half and we lost Costi up front after 5 min. Good performance nonetheless.

Vets 2 were granted the usage of the top pitch at Nossegem and made full use of it running out comfortable 2 0 winners. It was goalless at half time despite our dominance and shots that hit the upright. In the 2nd half we were well on top and Alex opened the scoring after about 15 mins. He then turned provider setting up Ben for the 2nd which he put away well. We should have added more but a mixture of bad finishing and bad luck meant it was not to be. Overall very good team performance from the 14 player squad. MOM Neil

Vets 1,Ladies 1 and Ladies 2 had no games

Lots of wins on a cold day in Brussels (03/12/2016) Sticky

Dec
03

1sts got back to winning ways with a 2 0 away win against MTM. After recent games where we had dropped points we shouldn't have it was important that we started to win again and this we did well with a solid performance. Nair and Mika with the goals.

2nds ,leaders of Division 3C,put in a brilliant pefoirmance to be 4 goals up at half time as they blew away Elan Evere. Goals coming from Hans (Penalty),Nick,Rado and Benoit. No more goals in the 2nd half as we saw out the game comfortably. Hopes are high that this good form continues.

3rds won 4-0, another good performance and important win. We went 3-0 up in the first half, the first a strong shot from Ionut, second was bundled in from a corner and third a free kick from Stefan a good way out, with a difficult bounce putting the keeper off. Their keeper was clearly a stand-in but we were making our chances count. 2nd half was about keeping it tight at the back and keeping the discipline which we did well. Ionut got the killer blow about ten mins from time burying it into the top corner from close range. Onwards and upwards! 3rds are on a roll;

4ths turned up to their match with no kit and had to borrow one from the opposition. They then proceeded to take the points winning the game 2 1.

Vets 1 were hoping to get their first win but alas it was again another story of missed chances as they went down 2 0. Vets 2 also had many chances to get at least a draw out of their game but again they were beaten 2 1. Jorg scored the consolation goal.

Ladies 1 completed their fixtures before the Christmas break with a solid 2 0 win against White Star . Goals by Virginie and Isa. Great team spirit on and off the pitch with all 14 players contributing to another awesome victory and 3 more points to push us further up the table.

Ladies 2 were unable to keep up their recent good form going down 4 1 but they can feel very proud of their efforts and achievements so far this season as they go in to the winter break  .

2nds beat main rivals to go back to the top of the division (26/11/16) Sticky

Nov

2nds took top billing winning a thrilling clash against leaders New Inn to go back on top.. Game was played at a high tempo and it was clear this was going to be a tight match with both teams looking positive. 1st half was pretty even with the highlight being a tremendous strike by Nick which the goalkeeper managed to push over the bar. 2nd half followed a similar pattern with both sides going for it, The stalemate was broken when Hans went down the right before crossing into the box where an opposition defender turned it into his own net . There were a couple of nervy moments but in general we saw out the game to get the three points and go back to the top of the table. Great performance all round by everybody with Benoit M.O.M.

1sts were playing Ambiance Auderghem and started brightly with a number of chances being created. However the opposition took the lead when a free kick was headed in at the far post. A few minutes later we had the chance to level the game when we were awarded a penalty . However Andrea's spot kick was too close to the keeper and the chance was missed. 1 - 0 at half time. We came out of the blocks strongly in the second half and created many chances but we just couldn't put any of them away. A few minutes before the end they broke away and scored a second although it looked suspiciously offside. Game was over and a disappointed team left the pitch knowing they should have taken something from this game.

3rds kept up their good run with another win at home against Virginal. Ionut with 2 and Youssef with the other scored the goals. The third goal was a great flowing move which left their defence for dead leaving Ionut with a simple finish. Great match with total control of the midfiled. Captain Francois very proud of his team.   MOM - THE TEAM. Well done guys !!

4ths had no game due to an opposition forfeit.

Vets 1 ,still looking for their first win of the season, were able to field a fairly strong side for the first time in weeks. Things started well when Carlos pur us ahead after barely a minute or two. Things got even better when Carlos headed a second over the keeper to put us 2 0 up. It was looking good but the opposition were still looking dangerous. We were pulled back to 2 1 when they were awarded a penalty which they put away well. Game then changed with 2 more goals for the opposition which put them up 3-2 at the break. 2nd half saw both teams have chances and we managed to equalise with about 15 minutes to go, However just a couple of minutes later they were awarded their 2nd penalty to go in front again .They increased their lead to make it 5 3 with about 5 or 6 minutes left but we came back again and captain David scored a penalty to make it 5 4 but it was too late and that's how the match finished.

Vets 2 were playing bottom of the table British United 8 and ran out 2 0 winners.

Ladies 1 had a very tough game against undefeated league leaders Veltem and put in a great performance to get a 2-2 draw. Both goals from Virginie with assists from Isa and Paola . Great fighting spirit and we are on the way up with recent results showing we are finding our feet in the top division.

Ladies 2 won their 4th game in a row by beating SC Ixelles 6 1. Great performance and great team spirit.

Turds win derby on a bad day for FC Irlande Sticky

Nov
20

First lost 3-0 against top of the league Portugal. Individual mistakes were punished and the team could not respond.

Seconds lost 5-1 in a very physical encounter to third placed Iris United. A makeshift Seconds team came up against a very young and technical Iris team. Captain Sparks' post game remark 'it was pretty shit' sums it up.

Turds had the only victory of the day. (hopefully followed by the second ladies team this morning) They won 2-0 away to the Brits, who were sitting top of the league with 9 wins and a draw at the start of the match. Half time 0-0, it was a very good match, close, competitive. We held them off against the wind and created a few chances of our own too. They took Paddy W out after 15 mins, hamstring gone, ref didn't even call the foul, was raging but channelled it towards encouraging the team! 2 mins into the second half Rodrigo finished coolly to give us the lead. The Brits were shook and we continued to push. Our midfield didn't give them a second on the ball and kept disrupting their game while defence stayed solid. We won a free kick outside the left of the box which Stefan stepped up to and slotted it low around the wall into the bottom right corner. 2-0! We held them until the end and started the celebrations. The best tastes of victory! Motm went to the team (and Rodrigo)

Fourths game was postponed.

Vets 1 lost 4-1 but the was tighter than the score suggests. Vets keep looking for their first 3-pointer.

Vets 2 lost 3-1. No further details available.

Ladies I had a forfeit today.

Ladies play Sunday morning.
