Ladies Team have a tough night at Auderghem Sticky

Ladies Team played their match against HSV Tongerlo under the floodlights at Auderghem on a magnificent pitch. However although they competed well they were no match for a very strong HSV Tongerlo side who ran out deserved   6-0  winners. Cheered on by some of the men's teams who had come out to support,  the Ladies started brightly and had some good pressure early on but couldn't find a way through. As the game developed Tongerlo started to impose themselves with some strong physical play and fine passing. We were still in the game at Half Time when the score was just 1-0. However within less than 10 minutes of the restart we were another 2 gials down and facing an uphill struggle. More goals followed as they dominated the game with very few chances coming our way although we came close on a few occasions. To our credit we never gave up but it was a tough night and a lot of tired legs at the end of the game..

Weekend Matches 14/09/2013 Sticky

1sts Win but elsewhere it's a disappointing story

1sts  won  3- 1 against Jefke  thanks to 2 first half goals from last season's top scorer Sigve and an excellent second half efffort from Charles who was voted Man of the Match. First vistory of the season to get our campaisn underway.. Sigve, captain for the day, chipped the keeper for a sublime opener. Good work down the left saw Ollie set up Sigve for his second. 2-0 at the half. In the second half Jefke upped their game and were rewarded with a neatly-finished goal. Some nervous moments, two vital saves from Eduardo, before MOTM Charles scored a third to guarantee the victory and finally get our season started!

2nds took the lead in their match against Le Clan but they were pulled back to 1 -1 in a tight first half. Our efforts were undone when a misunderstanding in defence led to the award of a penalty and we went 2 -1 down. Despite battling away we conceded a further goal late on and ended up with a 3-1 defeat

3rds also lost by  1-0. Missing through illness skipper Paddy Wall had to endure his first match as captain watching from the sidelines. We had plenty of possession and a number of chances but on a counter attack they scored and then "parked the proverbial bus " in front of their goal and we were unable to break through so going down by the one goal

4ths managed a 2-2 draw. We dominated both halfs, but didn't  use the spaces enough.  On two free kicks we conceided two goals. Starting the second half 0-2 down we fought back and scored via John Sparks on a counter and later on we got a penalty that got in the back of the net. End result 2-2.

Vets 1 turned in a disappointing performance going down 4-1 to Chefs Kapelleveld. Trailing 1-0 to an early goal they tried to get back in the match but despite a couple of close efforts were unable to get on terms. Opposition added a second and third midway through the 2nd half and although Stevie Byrne pulled one back with a great effort they scored another goal late on and we ended up with a 4-1 defeat

Vets 2  scored early on the 1st half through Oscar Sanchez in a one on one and looked set to control the game against a solid 'Le Clan' team, If we had a bit more luck in the first half of the game we could have scored more, In the 2nd half an unlucky but well taken penalty by the opponent resulted in the  equalizer. Despite Terry (shared man-of-the-match with Laurent) and Reinardt leaving the pitch injured we had a good battle and fought for the win. In an all or nothing game we lost 1-3 with a good team spirit.

On Sunday our Ladies Team went down 1-0 away so making it 5 losses out of 7 for the weekend.  The only way is UP !!

Subject: New Club Sponsorship

We are pleased to announce that the Club has secured new sponsorship . I'm sure you would all like to join me in thanking Dirk for his generous support and we look forward to a great partnership. So,I don't need to tell you which places to head to if you are in the Schuman area and looking for a place to drink.

Mixed Results but great to be back playing again - Away Matches 7/9/13 Sticky

It was the first day of a new season. Great to be out playing football again on another sunny and warm day just like every day in Brussels. A big day for FC Irlande with all the men’s teams having new captains, and a big day for Abssa with the introduction of the tablet as the official match-reporting system. Overall we had three wins, three defeats and a draw, with no match being decided by more than a goal – net, it’s too early to draw any major conclusions about the season’s prospects.

  • Ambience Auderghem 1-0 FC Irlande1       Loss
  • La Lorgnette 2-1 FC Irlande2                     Loss
  • Ihvan 0-1 FC Irlande3                                Win
  • Emirdagspor 1-2 FC Irlande4                     Win
  • Ambience Auderghem  1-0  FC IrlandeV1   Loss
  • AEMA 1-1 FC IrlandeV2                           Draw
  • FC Irlande Ladies 1-0 VK Wakkerzeel       Win

The day and the season started with the Ladies playing at 11.00, and a dominant performance saw us get us off to a great start with a win against VK Wakkerzeel. It could have been 10-0, but the important thing is that, despite multiple miracles by the opposition goalkeeper, we did get one goal (Virginie, quelle surprise!) in the first half, and we didn’t give them any chances to equalise – Ida only touched the ball once in the entire second half. So 1-0 it finished, with a great team performance. Colleen was WOTM of the match with 8 votes, just one ahead of Aline. Great stuff!

The firsts didn’t have the start we were hoping for. We were already limited by a lot of players being suspended (one-game carry-overs from last season mostly), and it didn’t help when we went a goal down to Ambience Auderghem in the first half. We improved a lot o in the second half, but a dodgy penalty left us 2-0 down. And yet, the way we played, we could have won it. Mark Boyle had a goal disallowed, Cillian hit the crossbar and we did finally score when Ernesto finished off a lovely 1-2 with Neil. Unfortunately time ran out before we managed to equalise. Just one of those days, and with most of the suspended lads back next week and a bit more luck, the wins will come. MOTM was Sylvian.

The seconds too got off to an unfortunate start with a 1-0 defeat. After some tablet-related confusion, we had to change the formation just before kick-off. But the team played very well and did a lot of things right, as exemplified by Ata’s MOTM performance in midfield. Debutant Hans, who claims he’d never played 11-a-side before, had a great match at left-back. We didn’t score, and we conceded an avoidable goal, but overall the quality of the play augurs well for the rest of the season – if we keep playing like this, the goals will come (of course, this is what we said last season, and we had to wait until 5 games from the end of the season before the goals started flowing …)

The turds got off to a great start with a 0-1 win. A goal by Joaquin was the difference. It could have been a bigger win and according to eye-witness reports, Joaquin missed multiple easier chances to score than the one he did score, but like Sir Alex Ferguson, we’ll take 1-0 wins anytime. Antonio played in goal and got MOTM. Great to get three points on the board in the first game.

The fourths got off to a winning start as well with a 1-2 win. Manuel started his captaincy in style by scoring the first goal and John Sparks got the second.

First Vets were playing away to the very strong Auderghem Vets right after the firsts game. We lost 1-0. We didn’t score despite creating at least a couple of very good 1-on-1 chances with the opposing goalie, and then we conceded with 7 minutes to go.

The second vets started well but went 1-0 down to a mishit shot the lobbed over Laurent into the goal from 12m or so. But with new captain Reinhard’s inspiration we kept pushing, and after a couple of great saves from Laurent, a young left-winger by the name of Kevin Bradley rifled a 20m half-volley into the top of the net to give us a last-minute equaliser. 1-1 was probably a fair result, especially considering one great lob (intended this time) they had that hit the bar with Laurent stranded.

Overall, not necessarily all the results we wanted, but a lot of positive energy to build on.

Next week we play our first home games at Nossegem – spectators are welcome!
