1sts lose thriller 2nds are flying Highlights 22/10/2016 Sticky

Oct

3 of our teams were playing at Rosieres - 1sts,Vets 1 and Vets 2 but it was our hosts who came out on top overall in the 3 games . There was a good atmosphere at the ground with many supporters from both Clubs cheering the teams on.

1sts lost a thrilling match against old rivals Brussels British . We were slow out of the blocks in the 1st half and were down 2-0 at half time. We came back very strongly in the 2nd half but a third goal for them proved to be the winner even though we pulled one back soon afterwards it wasn't to be as the game finished 3-2. This division appears to be quite open this season and we are still well placed to make a challenge for the title.

2nds got back to winning ways after their first draw of the season last week by thumping their opponents 6-0 with Nick scoring 4 goals , Although still early in the season we are looking unstoppable at the moment. Let's hope this continues as we now have 22 points out of a possible 24. Keep it up boys

3rds won 4-1 . No more information.  The 4ths were playing one of the top teams in their league and led for most of the game but were pulled back just before the end as the game finished 1-1. We even missed a penalty as well. Very creditable performance.

Ladies 1 were in need of a good result after their bad result last week and this they did in style winning 4-1 against Perez. Great performance all round and showed our character and fighting spirit

Vets 1 were up against Brussels British Vets in what was a very important game for both teams as they each had zero points after 7 games. In a frustrating game we had good chances and hit the woodwork but neither side could break the deadlock and it finished 0-0 which leaves both teams rooted at the bottom of the table.

Vets 2 also played their 2nd Vets team and conceded an early goal against the run of play but despite dominating the match they couldn't find an equaliser and lost 1-0.

Ladies 2 played Sunday morning and won 3 1 away . Great result

Mixed results for the Boys and Girls in Green (games 8/10/16) Sticky

Oct
09

Firsts lost 4:2 to newly promoted Green Devils. In the first half we went down 2:0 after conceding two unnecessary goals and missing out on a couple of one-on-ones with their keeper. 2d half we showed some great spirit and levelled the score. Unfortunately when we were pushing for the winner, one of their excellent strikers scored an unstoppable volley from outside the box in 65th minute. Their last goal was a gift from us in the dying minutes of the game. Nonetheless a good performance against a side that beat FC Portugal 1:3 last Saturday.

Seconds continue their great form with a 0-4 win away to Realistes Mexico. We built a wall and got them to pay for it. ;-). That is 18 points from 18 and 4 clean sheets in a row. Next week Beethoven away, let's make sure this symphony stays sweet.

The Turds drew against a team that proved to be better than it's current position in the league. After leading 2:1 following a powerful header from Ionut, we unfortunately didn't manage to keep the lead and conceded late in the 2d half. 2:2 was the final score of a balanced game, in which we missed several key players.

Fourths played a strong young team that will challenge for promotion this season. While having the upper hand for most of the first half, we missed a couple of great chances. This cost us dearly, when Fc Tauro scored in the 60th minute. Again we missed to reward us for a decent performance because of our sloppiness in front of the goal. The game finished 1:0. But we will bounce back next Saturday!

Vets1 lost 0:2. While Brussels Ltc had only 4 shots on target throughout the game, these proved to be efficient. We conceded the first one after 2 minutes because of a too short warm-up. Afterwards we created a couple of good chances that we unfortunately missed to convert. In the second half we were down to ten after Frazer had to come off injured. Nevertheless we managed to keep them quiet for most of the second half. Their second goal came shortly before the final whistle... Again we deserved more!

Vets2 chalked up a first win this season after an impressive display away to Tubifoot. Well in control from the off the men in green led by 3:0 at half time. Nick unfortunately had to limp off and was replaced by Laurent. In the 2d half vets2 conceded 2, one a gift-wrapped penalty courtesy of the ref occasionnel, but also scored a further four. MOTM and surprise guest Jeff Bridoux bagged four while the owner of the first two syllables of the Oscarlos combo added a hattrick to become Vets topscorer. A marvellous performance on the day marred  only by the red card to skipper Bart reacting badly to a nasty tackle from behind.

Ladies I lost 0:1 against the 2d in the league. The only goal of the game was scored on a questionable penalty. The defeat has a bitter taste since they weren't better than us and since we managed to beat them in the past. Will do better next time!

Ladies II won 14:0 (!) against Lasne. Though opposition was one of the weaker teams in the league, we kept the intensity high throughout the game and scored a few crackers. Very pleasing team performance!

not our best day so far ... (games 1/10/16) Sticky

Oct
01

Firsts lost 1-2 - we conceded two early goals due to mistakes, and although we were the better team after than, we could only get one back - through Sigve. We pushed hard for the equalizer and created many chances, but none would go in. Frustrating day at the office, but we're still up near the top where we belong!

Seconds were a bright spot on the day, keeping up our great record with a convincing 4-0 win, with Darragh saving a penalty to earn a clean sheet to go with his new FCI Golf title. The two teams in 2nd and 3rd played each other, with Iris United beating Realistes Mexico 2-1 to overtake them into 2nd place - they are 3 points behind us.

Turds drew 1-1 - no further details available at time of going to print.

Fourths were beaten 0-2 by an efficient and organized team who maintain their 100% record. They created only 4 chances but scored two of them. A setback but no reason to doubt that we'll soon be back to winning ways ...

Vets 1 lost 0-4 and still remain pointless. It's not all doom and gloom, though - we've lost a couple of very close games, we've played 4 of the top 6 teams, and our last three games were against top-4 teams. Also, surprisingly, we're still above the relegation places (on goal-difference ...). Wait until we get Stevie back and we'll be grand ...

Vets 2 got back to our habit of taking and then blowing leads, but this time we had a 2-0 lead so we managed to hold on for a draw. First half goals by Luuk and Alex were cancelled by a deflected shot and a silly mix-up in our otherwise awesome defense. We were delighted to welcome back Mike K after his hip replacement. Originally selected in his best position (delegue') he ended up reffing and doing a good job.

Ladies 1 lost 5-2 in a game where we fought hard but it was not enough against a strong Roosbeek side. Both goals from Virg. We're not finding division 1 easy, which is actually a pleasant and refreshing change after easily winning both Div 3 and Div 2. We're showing we definitely belong in this division though!

Ladies 2 play tomorrow.

Some consolation for the disappointing results is to be had in Dublin's very exciting 1-15 to 1-14 win over Mayo in the All-Ireland Football Final Replay. Unless you're from Mayo of course ...

(I'm still working out if/how I can update the scores with the new website set-up. Your regular reporter, Dave, is in Peru to celebrate the wedding of former FC Irlande star Danny (his son) yesterday - congrats Danny!)

1sts lead the way on a good weekend overall for the Club's Teams (24/9/2016) Sticky

Sep

1sts played away against Enghien Amical and came away with another win . Remaining unbeaten and joint top of the table after 4 games this is a great start and the momentum is there to build a strong challenge for the title . Final score was 2 1 with a couple of familiar names on the scoresheet Ross and Sigve.

2nds won their 4th game in  a row by a stunning 7 0 and sit proudly on top of the division. Abdel and skipper Sparksy amongst the scorers. 3rds were up against one of the top sides in the division Sicula. Playing at home in Auderghem it was a fast and fiercely contested game and the opposition scored the only goal of the 1st half to go in 1 0 ahead at the break, We hit back straight after the restart when Youssef scored with a buller header. Game continued at the same pace but there were no  further scores and it ended in a draw 1-1

4ths did not have a game. Both Vets teams again suffered losses to leave them pointless this season but there are encouraging signs in the performances that things will improve soon. Vets 1 went down 6 2 to one of the top sides Mutuelle with David G and Alex scoring our goals. Vets 2 went down 3 2 but were only able to start the game with 9 players and no regular keeper. Score was 3 1 to them at the break but in the 2nd half we came back strongly and pulled one back but it was too little too late. MOM Alan Norton.

Ladies 1 had no game.  Ladies 2 played a good game and were in contention until late in the game when they succombed to late goals to go down 1-4.

Club legend Ian McConnell celebrates his 70th birthday at Nossegem Sticky

Sep
17

Pride of place at this  weekend's games was the welcome to Club legend Ian McConnell who came out to Nossegem to celebrate his 70th Birthdaqy. Joined by family and friends it was a great day out for Ian with many old team mates coming along to celebrate .

Some photos are on our Facebook Page  https://www.facebook.com/groups/fcirlande/

1sts had a tough battle against old foes Coin du Balai and ended up drawing the game 0-0. It could have gone either way with both sides having chances to win the game, Still we are joint top of the league after 3 games with 7 points.

2nds hit their 3rd win in a row with an emphatic victorhy by 2 - 0. Karl G  set the ball rolling with a neat chip over the keeper to make it 1 0. Benoit added the second and we were never in danger. MOM Euan. Top of the league . Keep it up boys !!

3rds had a great victory by 8 - 3.  Youssef 3, Ionut 3, Villu and Sergiu. Good team performance just lacked a bit of bite in defence to stop their first two at least. Their keeper was a bit dodgy too to say the least and their full backs allowed us plenty space to set up the goals, very kind of them!

4ths also won by 4 0. No more info

The 2 Vets teams again failed to get a result going down in 2 tight games. Vets 1 had equalised less than 10 minutes from time through Ben but at the death the opposition sneaked a winner. Vets 2 had taken the lead when Damo got on the end of a great free kick by Bart, Watermael equalised and then took the lead, They scored again in the second half to put them 3 1 ahead and althoigh Jacob pulled one back we couldnt find an equaliser and went dowm 3-2.
