2nds win top of the table clash 2 1 and go 10 points clear (04/03/2017) Sticky

WIth a large group of supporters present 2nds didn't disappoint when they won a fiercely contested encounter 2 1 to go well clear at the top of the table. Game started at a fast pace and we could have scored in the first few minutes but it took us 30 minutes to open the scoring when Nick tucked away in the corner to make it 1 - 0. Half time we knew we were in a game and would have to keep the efforts going as we were up against a good side. We were pulled back when they scored following  a corner . With the scores level the game became very tense and we knew that the next goal would be crucial.  The guys continued to press for the winning goal and we were rewarded when Nick broke clear 10 minutes from time to score what proved to be the winning goal. . Game ended and the celebrations could begin. Congratulations !! 2nd division now firmly in sight with only 5 games left  !!

See photos below

All of the players played well even the guys who didn't come on and the MOTM voting could have been all 16 players in the squad but the voting resulted in Nick winning the vote . Well done to Sparksy and the boys for a tremendous team performance and thanks to the many supporters who came out.

1sts put in a fabulous performance to blow away Ambiance Auderghem by 6 goals to nil. Ross and Karim with a brace each. Looking like we could have a good chance to finish in the Top 4 if we can keep this performace up.

3rds  Good gritty win away in the sticks. Pitch was very challenging being on a severe slope. We created early chances but Virginal took the lead half way through with a quick counter. Luckily Stefan was on hand to hit yet another free kick from distance before half time, the downhill angle helped! We were gifted the second goal with a poor clearance from their keeper going straight to Sergiu to slot in calmly. Ionut extended our lead with a scrappy but important goal. The last ten mins were quite nervous and they pulled one back. However, on the cusp of the final whistle, Virgil managed to close the match out with a fourth goal. Three big games coming up now for the 3rds with promotion not out of sight. First up, the Brits at home in Auderghem !

Vets 1 had a vital game against Ambiance Auderghem in their quest to avoid relegation. Opposition only had 9 players for the 1st half but we struggled to create many chances . Things looked good though when  Walter crashed home to make it 1 - 0 at the break. Another player arrived so they had 10 in the 2nd half. This then resulted in an equaliser about 20 minutes from time. No further scoring and we had to make do with 1 point,

Vets2 beat rivals British United three-nil but will need to improve on the first half performance if the goal is to rack up more victories. The men in green escaped twice before Jacob got the first goal. In the second half Vets2 set the record straight. Oscar got two goals but Vets2 could have scored s hatful from great counter-attacking play. MOTM was Oscar for 2 good goals and a great all round performance. It's three wins in a row and ten points from five game for Vets2 now

Ladies 2 playes last night and in a scrappy game lost by 2 - 0.

Ladies 1 won against Wolfsdonk 5-0 (3-0). Goals by Colleen (3rd min), Virg (8th min), Paola penalty (37th min), Isaline x 2 (52nd and 55th min). Ladies finished with 10 players on the pitch the last 15 min. A game well played and nice team spirit before, during and after the game.

Seconds go 7 points clear and old man Sigve scores a hattrick as most men's teams follow ladies' example. Sticky

First lost 1-0. Cruel again. We battled really well, creates chances, they scored with eight minutes left with a free kick, their only shot on target. Sean man of the match.

Seconds won 0-3 to go 7 points clear at the top with the second team dropping another 3 points. MOTM John led by example and scored two. Pablo scored the third. Difficult game against a good team on a small pitch but a deserved victory nonetheless. Good fight from the lads. Up next: second in the league New Inn on the 4th of March in Kraainem. Save the date!

3th won 3-0...  Stefan, Piet and Marius... On a very hard pitch, it was very hard to play à great football but Stefan open the match with his speciality free kick...  In the second half we had more opportunities and played some good, collective football... Motm was Piet for his fight in midfield.

4ths won 3-2. They went 2-0 up through two goals from Costi but LTC came back to 2-2. With two minutes on the clock Manu scored to give us the victory.

Vets1 drew 3-3. Sigve scored a hattrick. We were leading 3 times but they clawed back each time with our help by giving them two penalties.

Brits take the spoils at Nossegem but 2nds and 3rds get big wins (11/02) Sticky

Photo taken at Nossegem 11 Feb 2017 FC Irlande 1sts and RBBFC 1sts

1sts were first up against Brussels British . It was a tough start as we were put under the cosh for the first quarter an hour and it took some good saves and missed chances by them to keep the score level. We weathered this storm and started to get our game together and then took the lead with a great goal by Nair following a good move. Game on as both sides battled for possession. Just before half time we were pulled back when a very harsh  penalty was awarded against Sigve for handball and they put it away to make it 1-1 at the break. 2nd half started brightly and we were well in contention when a hopeful shot from about 25 metres somehow squirmed out of Darragh's grasp and they were ahead. We battled tremendously to get back on level terms and had many chances but it wasn't to be and the final score was 1-2.

2nds needed to win to stay top of the table and this they did with a great 4-1 victory over Chenois. We started brightly and took an early lead but were pegged back. We retook the lead and added another so it was 3-1 at the break. In the 2nd half our superior fitness and ability saw us pull away and Benoit's excellent strike wrapped it up to make it a glorious win.

More good news (New Inn surprisingly lost at home to Pumas so we are now 4 points clear)

3th won 8-2... Ionut X2, Rodrigo,  Marius,  Sergiu, Piet,  Youssef and Stefan... Our opponents needed our help to score with à penalty and àn own goal... Great offensive football today with snow and a lot of grit..  Christmas time is late and 3 points...  Thanks to our fans suspended or injured Rafa and Pierre Antoine...  Mario MOM for his fantastic job in midfield

4ths lost 1-0 to the top of the table Vetuso

Vets 1 were involved in LE CRUNCH game against Brussels British Vets. Both teams locked at the bottom of the table with 1 almost certain to be relegated at the end of the season, They took the lead but we came back with a well crafted goal as Sean set up Ollie to run through and put us level. Both sides scored again to make it 2-2. In the 2nd half there were not many chances for either side but they managed to score the winner and we are now in serious trouble being 4 points adrift . Final score 2-3.

Only bright spark was the return from injury of star striker Stevie Byrne after a long absence . Welcome back Stevie

Vets2 earned a hard fought win over rivals RBBFC. The Brits started brightly without creating chances but the Irish took the lead when Neil played Oscar through on goal, El governor slotting home neatly with a swerving shot. The Brits equalised through an error but the Irish kept going and took the lead when MOTM Pietro took hold of a cleared corner and smashed a beautiful shot in the top corner. The men in green were perhaps sitting too deep in the second half but gave away no chances and came closr through a brilliant back heel by Jacob and a close  range effort by Michael.

Well-deserved win and MOTM performance by Pietro

Ladies 2 had a tough time this morning losing 7 0 to Leeuw B. Ladies 1 lost 5 3 against a top team Leeuw A this evening . We had to play the last 30 minutes due to no substitute for an injured player.
