On a sunny afternoon in Anderlecht, FC Irlande 3 went into today’s game looking to maintain their unbeaten run in what was a third consecutive away game. Asturias started the game the stronger of the two teams, dominating early on and imposing themselves. This dominance and pressure resulted in Asturias taking the lead through an early penalty. 1-0. FCI 3 grew into the game and reacted well to going behind. FCI 3 started to create some chances and had better flow to their game near the end of the second half, however Asturias remained a threat and our defensive needed to hold strong. 1-0 Asturias at HT.
FCI 3 begun the second half well and started to dominate. Gavin played a perfect ball through to Shane who finished well on his left foot to make it 1-1. FCI 3 continued to apply the pressure and could have taken the lead through some missed opportunities. FCI 3 lost the ball at the edge of the box and Asturias capitalised to make it 2-1. Moments later, Shane was taken down inside the box. Penalty. Shane put away the penalty to make it 2-2. Both teams created chances to win the game in the remaining 15 minutes but neither could get the winning goal. The game became scrappy and disjointed with many fouls and breaks in play.
