Match Report:
Union Lasne Ohain A VS
FC Irlande Ladies 2
On the 8th of March (women’s day!!), FCI ladies 2 travelled to Lasne for a late Friday evening match (you either hate them or you love them). With a small but powerful group of 11, we faced one of the best teams in the league. The match started out quite well, and we played strong from the start. During the first half, Rosey managed to escape from her position in defense and surprise the opponent with a great shot, resulting in a goal. Leading the match, we stayed strong for the whole first half, even though it was getting quite tiring. At least you could always sub when you got tired (hahaha this never gets old).
Lasne started the second half strong, though, and managed to score a goal – and then another one. It was also around this time that the referee took a turn after a pretty decent first half, and started calling everything and giving people random warnings (??). We tried to keep playing our game, but eventually our tiredness got the better of us. The end score was 3-1, and although it felt disappointing, it was the best we could do under the circumstances, and we were proud of our efforts.
There are some final important AOB points to note: 1) the salty licorice that Vilja brought for us to taste got largely a positive response from the audience. The outlier was Marianne who visibly seemed to hate it, but aside from that, the finnish cultural propaganda programme seems to be bringing results, and will be continued in the future. 2) Lasne is not a cheap opponent, and they will serve you fries after the match (with an option of mayonnaise OR andalouse)! Strong recommendation to the local cuisine for this reason. 3) a special thanks to Rosey, Nawal and Olivia for coming to help out so that we didn’t have to play with 8 players !
An unfortunate end result, but the team is playing better and better together, and our luck will turn one of the upcoming matches !
Match Report:
FC Irlande Ladies 2 VS
Union Lasne Ohain A
It was a cold rainy Saturday evening as FCI took on R. Union Lasne Ohain. Despite some referee troubles and a delayed start we all felt pumped and ready for the match when the whistle blew.
Unfortunately, after only two minutes Ohain managed to score a quick and early goal. Nevertheless, we did not put our heads down and quickly played better and got into the game. We played a close and tight rest of the half despite the cold with good plays and effort.
After a warm break in the buvet during halftime to gather some strength we were ready to take on the game and aim for some goals. Luckily, 5 minutes into the second half with a long kick the goal came from Marianne equalising the score. Now motivated to win the game, we continued playing well and had a few chances.
Even though we played a very good match, the ending was unfortunately rather bitter. With few minutes left of the game Ohain managed to score a second goal securing the win.
Despite the loss we played a good game and will be ready to beat them next time around! Even though we concluded we deserved at least one point, a bitter and sore ending will only give us more motivation!
