Match Report – FC Irlande III 3-0 Brussels LTC
FCIII welcomed Brussels LTC to a cold and windy Nossegem to close out the first half of the season.
Having beaten LTC 3-1 earlier in the season, the Thirds were looking for a repeat performance and go 10 games unbeaten.
Thankfully that was made a lot easier by an LTC player losing their mind 90 seconds in and getting a red card for clearing a header with their hand. A long journey back to La Hulpe for that lad.
Shane miraculously recovered from a pre-match groin strain to take the penalty and made it 1-0. Long periods of Irlande dominance followed forcing some unorthodox saves from the LTC keeper.
That was until Scott, marauding from right back slid in Piet’ who after taking a ball to the testicles, had the presence of mind to square it to Shane, whose groin was now better than ever, for his second. 2-0
The second half was much the same, aside from a few complacent moments. The early highlight being the ref confirming if Colm was a ‘civilian’ as he was wearing too many clothes on the bench.
More strong play led to a second penalty, which despite the keeper getting a hand to, found the back of the net. Hat trick for Shane and his groin.
FT 3-0 and a great way to finish ahead of the winter break.
Match report FC Irlande – Brussels LTC III
The free-flowing football continued in the second half, bringing chances for both sides. The quick transitions and the verticality of play from FC Irlande played off, as Timo’s pass found Shane in acres of space. Our poacher run past the defender and was one-on-one with the goalie, who kept his low shot out. However, Georges was quick to react and slotted the ball in the empty net. The nervousness of keeping the lead in the end was quickly overcome by the extension of lead by Shane. Similarly to the second goal, our number 11 ran around his man down the left and put a strong shot in the front post. Again, excellent spirit in the midfield to win the second ball and quickly pass it to the final third. FC Irlande showed great determination to get the three points, coming from 0-1 down.
