For Vets2, it was a roller coaster game vs. the 4ths of the league. They scored first in the first half, and then again early in the 2nd half. But first Jacob and then Slava drew the game for us. 2-2 and 20 minutes to go. Then it was 2-3, then 3-3 after David MG scored for us (with some help from one of their defenders). It would have been a good result but they scored their 4th. We almost drew on the last play of the game but a defender stopped the ball on the line. So 3-4 vs the 4ths of the league to finish the season. Not too bad, Vets2😎
Great afternoon, a great performance by all, great fighting spirit, a well-deserved draw against a top team 2 MotM though arguably there were many contenders. After the game glorious bread and cheese courtesy of il grande Antonio. All the sorrows and worries of the week forgotten for at least a couple of hours. Thank you Vets2!
Vets2 drew 1-1 vs Le Tigre in an early kick-off game. We had more chances in the 1st half, but we couldn’t finish them. Eventually we went ahead in the 2nd half thanks to a cool finish by Pascal, but they equalised soon thereafter. They had two penalty kicks awarded in the last 10 minutes of the game… but Laurent’s legendary reputation (or was it his looks, or his sense of fashion ?) scared them and both shooters put the ball high and to the side… So in the end Vets2 were lucky to come out with their first draw of the season
Vets2 lost 1-3 vs LTC Brussels. After a goalless first half, we took two goals before we pulled 1 back to make us believe in a comeback. But then they scored a 3rd and that was the end of it… MOTM Laurent
Vets2 travelled to Rosieres to face Brussels British. Having beaten the Irish soundly in the first game, there was a degree of underestimation on the part of the Brits which Vets2 swiftly punished. It was 1-4 at half time with a quadruple by MotM Oscar. Second half was more difficult as the Brits got a second early on. But the Irish held on and managed to see the game out. Great win, great performance. MotM Oscar and runner-up Fajar.
For the third time in a row Vets2 were facing the top of the league. No idea how it’s possible but I guess ABSSA.
The bye of the firsts created a trickle down which saw us a few shirts, and it was needed with lots of regulars missing.
First half was even, and dare we say that we had the upper hand with David owning the midfield. We had a few good chances but no outcome. The scored from nothing and half time was one down. A couple of changes half time, but it was not enough to fill the crater after David who went over to the other game to guide his troops.
Second half was not as good as the first, but we kept fighting to the end. The opposition need to get some lessons in fair play, but their antics did not affect the result so no further thoughts about that.
Special thanks to Pascal for reffing second half.
MOTM was Fajar, but bar closed early so no round this time.
Some brave souls followed Alan’s lead to St Patrick’s evening at Funky. Prayers for everyone.
Vets2 had a rough day at the office.
Faubourg Brainoise mobilized all their best players after seeing last weeks result, Vets2 barely managed to field a team. 3 injuries at half time but nobody gave up. Finished with 11 men, it was like a battlefield.
Vets2 had a thirds in a row winning strike agains watermael. 1-0 from Adrian from a brilliant 30 meter shot straight in the crossing. Watermael never past the mid line and did not have a single chance. Hard fighting from the boys in green secured an other victory ⚽️
Vets2 did excellent agianst the English. We came ahead from a great dribble and great finish from Oscar : 0-1
The ref from the English gave a free penalty to his own team from a clear schwalbe. Laurant saved the first attempt but had to give in on the reabound. 1-1
But they had not counted on the strong revence feelings from the Irish. Especially Alan Norton.
Luuk was narrowly saving a possible second goal from the British from dribbling his way out from they attackers somewhere half second half. A narrow escape.
Alan Irish fury started burning. Alan took the ball from midfield out our dribbeled at leasr 3 or 4 opponents Maradonna style. A great cross right on Oscars head. 1-2 for the Irish.
The most important win on if the season⚽️
Vets 2 lost 1-3. We pushed hard at 1-2, and were unlucky to not draw really. it was a lovely afternoon, despite the result. Beers outside after the match.
Early kick off for Vets2 today. A solid performance despite the absence of many regulars. We dominated the second half but could not convert any of the half chances we got so it was 1-0 in the end for Cornac
Vets 2 lost 3-2 after leading 1-0 and 2-1. Opposition scored the winner following a free kick 2 minutes after the ref said there was one minute left 🙄
Very frustrating defeat (we conceded a penalty, almost saved by Laurent, and scored an own goal) after a good team performance, with some great sequences during which the team showed good control and composure. XXXX
Vets2 went to Waterloo to play Chenois. Despite the by far best performance of the season, the end result was a 1-0 loss. Vets2 tries to equalise but in the end had to thank Laurent (c’est qui le patron) to save a penalty. Still, a lot of positives to take away from this game with Paddy and John O making their debuts for Vets2. If we can keep up this level, points will surely follow
Vets2 played Nivelles, the top of the league. 2 penalties (one a clear one; the other not) and an unlucky clearance after a corner resulted in a 3-0 for the opposition at half time. They scored another one and then Ken scored from a good free kick by Enzo. 4-1 loss in the end but for the first time we did not lose the second half and we fought until the end. Now we just need to combine a good first half with a good second half.
Vets2 played at heymbosch in Jette. The sky was bleu and the sun was coming out once a while. We where happy to have some talented vet1 players in our ranks due to the bye of vets1. Thanks Fernando and Yacine. Unfortunately it was not enough to win the game. We lost 3-0.
We try again next week ⚽️
Vets2 – Cornac – the sun was shining on the nice green pitch at nossegem. It was a peacefull day as all planes where halted during our game. The boys in green where totally up for a beautiful win after a tough start of the season. Unfortunately it did not hapen this way. We lost 2-3 with a very last minute goal for the victory from the opposition. We try again next week.
Vets2 played Karia. We finished the 1st half 1-1 in a tight contest… but somehow conceded 5 in the 2nd half to finish 1-6…
Vets 2 lost 5-0. What can i say🙁 they were better and our skills are very limited. We made mistakes in defence, midfield and offence. We try again next week ⚽️
Vets2 where playing tigre ⚽️ at the lovely nossegem sk grass pitch.
It was a very hot day.
First half we where on top of the game. Playing around nicely controling the game. Some chances but no goals yet.
3 minutes before halftime Niall had to leave the pitch due to injuries. Legendary matt williams took his place.
At first contact Matt scored our opening goal 1-0. ⚽️ we felt a win was in the air.
Second half started different as we had anticipated. We lost our organisation especially at the back. Tigre was taking control of the game. We let them with a series of mistakes from our site. We went down step by step from 1-1 to 1-4 at the end. Pitty especially after such strong firtst half.
Next week we try again to get the first win of the season ⚽️
It was a lovely day at the centre of Brussels. The sun was out and the bird where singing lovely songs. Vets2 almost won ⚽️ But at the end lost 3-0 agains watermael 💦 Next week we try to win ⚽️
