Vets2 was playing one of the three other teams on equal points. Things looked bright when the opposition only started with 8. We failed to take advantage with a shot on the cross-bar and a missed one on one. After 15 minutes, they were 11 and the game become more even although Vets2 still dominated without having clear chances. Some changes at half time increased the pressure. A shot by Joris was saved by the goalie but Oscar was there to follow up and score the 1-0. Keeping possession for the rest of the game, Vets2 easily finished the game though there was one scary moment. Not our best performance but three important points. MOTM Joris
Vets2 was playing Aema, the team just above in the ranking. Vets2 dominated the first half (yes, you read that correctly) with a ball saved on the line, a great save by their goalie on an Oscar header and some shots that went just wide. In the end, it took a rush forward by Paddy passing it to Antonio who finished it clinically in the top corner. Second half was a bit more nervous with Vets2 losing control over the game. We still had some good chances with Jeff; a clear penalty on Oscar not given; and the ref (it was theirs) allowing the goalie to stop a shot with his hands outside of the box. Luckily the ref got his vision back to disallow a final minute goal by the opposition (their attacker used both hands to put the ball in). A well deserved win for Vets2 with – in true Vets 2 fashion – 2 men of the match. Congrats to Paddy and Antonio
