Coin du balais FC 2

FC Irelande 3–2 Coin du Balai

A winning start to the season! ⚽️

We started the game well, moving the ball with confidence and making secure transitions from defence to attack. This allowed us to create the first good opportunities, and Karim opened the scoring after a great assist from Matt.

After the goal, we relaxed a little too much and allowed Coin du Balai back into the game. Our midfield and defensive lines dropped too deep, which gave the opponents some pressure and eventually led to their equaliser.

We reacted well, however, and gradually returned to the way we had started the game — this time with a bit more velocity and intensity. That led to our second goal: a nice triangulation between Clément, Karim and David, finished with a great arch by Gonçalo. 2–1 at half-time.

We made some changes at half-time, with Yacine replacing David and Karim moving into David’s position. Coin du Balai came out strongly looking for the equaliser, and their pressure, combined with some natural tiredness in our legs, pushed our lines deeper.

We then brought some fresh leggs to the game with Fernando and John.O and used the counter-attack effectively to create danger. One of those transitions resulted in our third goal, making it 3–1. We had a couple of good opportunities afterwards to put the game beyond doubt, but unfortunately couldn’t convert them.

The opponents continued to push and, with our energy levels dropping, they managed to reduce the deficit to 3–2. From there, however, we stayed focused, kept our heads in the game and defended the result until the final whistle.

A 3–2 win and three points to start the season!

Congratulations to everyone. As captains, we can clearly feel how happy everyone is to be back playing together. There is a great spirit in this group, and we have the potential to do some great things this season.

Now let’s keep that fighting spirit and attitude — and, of course, let’s also train, get fitter and learn to understand each other’s game even better.

Great start, lads. Let’s keep going! 💪⚽️

Cheers!
