On a beautiful and windy day, thirds were looking for their first victory at home. We hardly made on time due to the famous Patatencross happening in our usual parking lot but we definitely showed we were ready to play. Our opponent Requin, a team we played a few times this showed also determination and so there were not a lot of opportunities and space available. So it was up to us to make the best of the few chances we would create which is what we did brilliantly on first half. Nikos our Greek hoplite opened the score after a nice combination from Piet Alex and Shane down the left. Piet found perfectly Nikos whose shot on penalty line left the goalkeeper with no chance to stop it. After that great team effort, we added a second goal thanks to Shane tenacity to stand on his foot while getting bitten by the sharks. From long distance the natural born scorer found the possibility to surprise the keeper with a little help from the wind. At 2-0 at half time, we had the game in our hands but were aware the wind would be against us. We suffered for the first 20mn of the second half and conceded a goal on a free-kick. Requin was lucky to score on that one. Though they were pressuring us they didn’t have any opportunity except one shot from the edge of the box our keeper Cristian deflected. That save was just fantastic and he had a great game with a lot of interventions in the air. The last quarter we started getting our foot on the ball much more. Requin was less threatening and the referee blew the final whistle for a well deserved victory. Everyone brought great contribution but there can be only one MOTM. Congrats to Nikos!
