After a weekend without a game due to freezing conditions in Brussels, the 3rds were keen to get a win against Tauro 2 who were 3rd from the bottom before today’s match.
Coming back from his travels, Max came back to CB in what was his first game this season. Shoutout to Liam who helped us out as CM and Pierre-Antoine who was our delegué.
The weather was god awful with variations of light rain, rain, and strong rain throughout the game, paired with a crisp December wind. Otherwise known as a typical Saturday in Nossegem.
Tauro started the game with more possession and it took the 3rds a while to get into it. Tauro had a good chance with a fantastic save from Antoine. 3rds then woke up after about 10 min with more intensity and very good sequences in midfield. Naturally chances followed with Gav getting a great ball and basically scoring only for the keeper to pull out an alien-like save. 99% of ABBSA keepers would not save that ball. Just as we were edging closer to 1-0 with good play, Tauro got a penalty from an unlucky handball off of Sims. Nothing he could’ve done as it was from a shot/centre 30cm off his hand. 0-1 just before half time.
Second half started with the 3rds keen to score the goal they deserved. More chances, more good plays and solid defending from the 3rds with Tauro not getting clear chances. Unfortunately about 15 min into the second half a slippery ball could not be controlled by Antoine and another Tauro striker managed to easily score the rebound. Really unlucky once again. 0-2 FT.
We did not let it affect our spirits and played a good game overall. I feel like with a bit more luck and in better conditions we would’ve won this game as it was hard to keep the ball on the ground and keep their defensive block moving with the dreadful weather. We can build on this performance for the coming games in January.
