It was a Fighting day today. Victor as our only sub, Max saved our ass on 1 or 2 big attempts in the first 20 minutes. Nothing from us until a sneaky free kick missed Lolo. The opposition dominated as their high press had us flusterered. They were very dangerous on corners and unfortunately after some poor marking they found the net for the 1 0 before half time. A lot of suffering in the first half as we were poor in possession but we grew into the game. Second half they don’t seem to be in shape to push again and we start having good counter attacks. On a high recovery Gineste got the ball and a foul around the 28,7 meters. Nick’s free kick had a little bounce in front of the keeper and he fumbled it into the goal. After some very even back and forth football, on a long deep ball Max is running outside of the box to tackle ended in a nasty clash to his cheekbone. In a half shitty chance they score the second goal again from a corner, short one this time. We missed a golden opportunity on the break for the 2-2 and with some good forward pressure we were knocking at the door. Unfortunately soon after, Brioche got a very nasty looking knee injury from a clumsy challenge and we don’t care about the rest. They scored a 3rd as we were down to 10. Great fighting spirit. Out of the title race but couldn’t be prouder of the lads considering the lack of availability this weekend
Another beautiful day of football at Nossegem and the Men in green stepped up on the pitch looking forward to stop the losing streak. On a different formation, we entered with a Neil False 9, ready to make a connection with midfield populated with quality. Trying to keep the pace high, and overcoming some bad passes, the seconds managed to make some well built plays, switching flanks and making sure to use options in the middle. In the first half wicked foot Nick managed a nice banana shot in the goal, which was stopped by the goalkeeper, and Jouke, that shot it over the bar. Following that, we continue our pressure and got two more chances on the two different posts, from our different wingers, Benji and Gabi. Second half came with a different attitude and saw Ewan and Luis coming in, establishing the team to the typical 443. We got bolder and with that came the mistakes, two missed passes called Max to the game who replied present when tested. We kept in the game, getting the ball in the box, with chances from Jouke, Luis and Ewan not getting the deserved goal for the more handsome men on the pitch. Heads down at the final whistle 0-0, which shows we don’t settle for draws. Good things are coming and we are hungry. MOTM goes to the man with the beautiful but cheeks:
