Gast FC 1 x 4 FC Irlande III
On a surprisingly not so cold, albeit rainy Saturday afternoon, our brave Turds travelled by train, bike and on foot to arrive at the muddy fields of Le Gast Stadium for an away battle on the outskirts of Brussels. Thinking the match would be played in a nice astro turf, the lads found themselves being drowning in the mud, with Ara being an absolute legend saving Shane by having extra boots to spare. With a fire in the eyes since the warm up, The Turds started aggressively controlling the play, even though the home team tried to enforce some pressure, they couldn’t pass our great defense, and when they did, Guus was there with a solid performance with good saves. The rain became heavier, and so did our lads, with Massi attempting a shot from outside the box, earning a assist to himself as the keeper saved and the ball came directly to him again to hit it first on to the back of the net, 1×0 Turds. With a solid defense form, Shane found himself getting some good runs to counter attack, and our Irish Poacher didn’t forgive them when he got a beautiful long ball from Andrea, he ran for it, took a solid touch and tucked in the back of the net, 2×0 Turds. For the second half, a good game management from the lads, some elegant walks to take throws with no hurry, and some loud screams as we receive some gentle tackles, Shane found himself a couple of meters ahead the last man of defense, but the ref allowed the game to go on, so he found Theo completely free in the box with enough time to miss the first touch, keeper on the ground, Theo quickly got up and managed to chip in the keeper, 3×0 for the Turds. To compensate for the clear offside, the ref saw the ball rebounding on Noel’s hand and gave a penalty for Gast, even though Guus have been practicing penalty saves almost every game, they still managed to score it, 3×1. They couldn’t even draft a response in the game, for Shane a few minutes later intercepted a pass with a good pressure, and completely alone against the keeper, he wouldn’t miss that for the world, 4×1 for The Turds. And just like that, a perfect way to kick off the weekend and create momentum for the rest of the season.
MoTM: Shane
Goals: Massi, Shane (2x), Theo
Assists: Massi, Andrea, Shane
Building on the momentum of a promising transfer window, the turds took to the pitch without any subs to kick off another highly anticipated season – this time against league newcomers Gast FC 1.
The game started with the turds playing against the wind, Gast keeping good possession and maintaining steady pressure. Midway through the first half, a rebounded turds corner found its way to the trustworthy foot of Timo who took it on the half volley to slot it bottom left past the keeper, 1-0 turds. A quick turn around from kickoff saw Gast play a fast break down their right side channel, with a squared cross finding its way through the cracks to their striker, who quickly levelled the game 1-1. Playing out from the back, a heavy touch from the turds meant Gast capitalised on another quick break, quickly taking the game to 1-2.
The turds kept their heads held high, and kept driving forward. Having previously had his free kick aimed at the far corner saved, Timo decided to learn from his mistakes. With a free kick in more or less the same position, Timo stepped up, looking to fool the keeper by curling the ball towards the inside corner. Moments later, the happy turds rejoiced with an equaliser goal before halftime, 2-2.
Kicking off the second half, this time with the wind in our sails, the turds were determined to get a result. With several big chances and offside goals ruled out, Timo level 99 positioning finally paid off when the ball dropped to him in the 6 yard box, for a simple back heel into the bottom right corner, 3-2 turds, keeper’s aura demolished.
Coming into the final 10m, the game intensity went up a level, with lots of back and forward attacks from both teams. After a light challenge from the turds in the box, a smart body throw saw Gast secure a penalty kick to level the game, 3-3. Despite the setback, the thirds finished strong, with some big tackles made and staying on the front foot to the very end of the game. Things are looking good for the rest of the season, onto the next one.
Final score 3-3, man of the match, TIMO 🔥
